This medicine is indicated in infected inflammatory conditions.

Side Effects

Patients using this medication may at times experience corneal thinning, cataract, fungal infection and rise in intraocular (eye) pressure. If you experience any of these symptoms for a long period of time, consult your doctor immediately.

Contraindications

Dexamethasone is contraindicated in following conditions:

• Active or untreated tuberculosis
• Herpes simplex virus
• An infection due to a fungus
• Intestinal infections
• Diabetes
• A condition with low thyroid hormone levels

This medicine is used orally or intravenously. The injectable form is injected into a vein by a medical professional. This medicine is usually taken twice in a day. One in the morning and then at night.

This medicine is only for use in the ear, avoid contact with the eyes, nose, and mouth. If this happens, rinse it with water.
