Avoid this medication if:

• You are allergic to this medicine or its contents.

• If you have a significant medical history, such as kidney or liver diseases, heart disease, blood pressure, cataracts or glaucoma.

• If your symptoms are not improving with this medication within the prescribed time.

Try to get blood uric acid levels, and liver function test checked at regular intervals while taking this medicine.

Drink lots of water. This will avoid the formation of a stone in the kidney.

Avoid driving or using any machinery that requires alertness until you are confident in performing these tasks.

Indications

This medication is recommended in the management of chronic hyperuricemia (increased concenteration of uric acid in the blood).

Side Effects

Minor side effects include the following:

• Nausea
• Throat irritation
• Decreased libido
• Unexpected weight changes

Contraindications

• Use only if prescribed by your doctor.
• Do not use its more than the prescribed dose.
• Do not use it if you are allergic to febuxostat or any other ingredients present in this medicine.
• Do not use it with medications like azathioprine and theophylline.
• Inform your healthcare professional of all past/present medical conditions especially if you have/had cancer, stroke, heart disease, kidney/liver disease or organ transplant
